About Yaoma
Yaoma began her career in the outdoor industry like many, starting as a trekker in the highlands of Scotland. She spent her early years honing her skills in the rugged terrains of the Scottish Highlands, where she developed a deep love for mountaineering. She has been fortunate enough to trek and climb in areas around Europe.
Her interests have always been around her love of the great outdoors. For many years she had a very keen interest in horses and until recently ran a professional stud farm in Scotland. She also has a keen interest in photography and in particular mountain landscapes and astrophotography.
Her biggest life ambition has always been to summit Everest.
Her first significant step into the High Altitude world came when she joined an Everest Base Camp trek. Yaoma’s determination to succeed carried her through and against all odds she made it to EBC – despite being ill for most of the trip. It was on this trip she met Ang Kami after she became extremely unwell on the descent.
This experience solidified her passion for mountains and she began pursuing more advanced training – returning a year later to lead on a 6000m peak.
Yaoma has completed training in climbing, ice climbing, and high-altitude mountaineering. She holds certifications in specialized training in outdoor first aid and plans to work her way up the first aid pathway. She is also working her way up the British Mountain Leader Scheme.
In addition to this she also runs her own business in the UK specialising in Advanced Remedial Therapy and sports therapy on humans and also equine manipulation therapy.
